Automatic dark and light mode theme switching has been a built-in feature in macOS, Android, iOS, and even many Linux desktop environments for a good long while, but for some reason has been lacking in Windows. Now, it appears as though automatic theme switching will be coming to Windows 11 in an upcoming Insider build, as spotted by @phantomofearth on X, who shared some strings of text in a recent Experimental Windows build. These strings are accompanied by a new DLL, "Windows.Shell.AutoDarkMode.dll," that appears in the OS's System32 files.
